This course introduces students to the principles and practices of academic writing in a university setting. Through reading, discussion, research, drafting, and revision activities, students will develop strategies for critical thinking and effective written communication. The course emphasizes writing as a process of inquiry and exploration, encouraging students to engage with ideas, respond to texts, and participate in academic conversations. Students will practice analytical reading, source evaluation, academic research, and ethical citation while learning how to organize and support arguments for different audiences and purposes. Attention will also be given to rhetorical awareness, paragraph and essay structure, revision techniques, and reflective writing practices. By the end of the course, students will have strengthened their ability to produce clear, organized, and research-supported academic writing while developing greater confidence in their own writing process.
